BIOGRAPHY
Deborah Issokson, Psy.D., licensed psychologist, has been in private practice since 1993. A graduate of the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and licensed by the state of Massachusetts, Dr. Issokson provides clinical services, training sessions, workshops and consultation to healthcare professionals both locally and nationally.
She is a frequent guest speaker at local universities, businesses, and professional organizations. She teaches at the Boston University Nurse-Midwifery Education Program and teaches directed study courses for students at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.
She is the co-author of chapter 23 in Our Bodies Ourselves a New Edition for A New Era, and has been quoted in the Newton Tab, The Massachusetts Psychologist and the Boston Globe; "Issokson goes where many obstetricians tend not to tread, seeing women in her office in hour-long sessions…. (The Boston Globe, Nov. 20, 1995)."
She has served as a consultant to on-line authors for www.onhealth.com’s Y2KBABY and is quoted in several of their online articles. In addition, she has appeared on Boston television’s Channel 7 Health Watch Report (1993). Dr. Issokson has written articles for the Boston Parents’ Paper, The Parent and Baby Journal, and The South Shore Baby Journal as well as for numerous local organizations’ newsletters. She has published in the journal Applied and Preventive Psychology (1997) as well as in MIDIRS Midwifery Digest.
Dr. Issokson is the only therapist in Massachusetts trained and certified by Dr. Gayle Peterson, creator of Holistic Prenatal Counseling and Body-Centered Hypnosis for Childbirth. Dr. Issokson is currently available for speaking engagements at conferences and is available to offer her workshops for your professional organization, health care facility, business or educational program.
